Evan Rachel Wood

Evan Rachel Wood was conceived in Raleigh, North Carolina on September 7, 1987. Her father, Ira David Wood III is a theater actor, writer and director, and her mother, Sara Wood, is an actor as well as acting coach. Her brothers older than her are Dana Wood, a musician and Ira David Wood IV who are also actors. Evan and her brothers often performed in the Theatre In The Park in Raleigh. Her father started it and is its director of operations. She was five when she auditioned to play the character in Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles (1994). With her mother and brother Ira they moved to Los Angeles in 1996. Since her arrival, she has had successes in TV series, movies on TV, and feature films. She was the main character in Practical Magic (1998) in the role of Al Pacino’s daughter. The comedy S1m0ne(2002) followed by Thirteen (2003) featuring Holly Hunter. Her character of Tracy in "Thirteen," which she played in the film, earned her a nomination at the Golden Globes for Best Performance by an Actress in a Drama, and a nomination from the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance By an Actress of Female Character in the Leading Role. She was the youngest actress nominated for the Leading Role award at the time. For her role in Veda Pierce in the HBO miniseries Mildred Pierce (2011), she received an Emmy and Golden Globe nominations. Her remarkable performance as Stephanie Rourke's estranged son in Darren Aronofsky’s The Wrestler (2008) earned the attention of critics. She is the daughter of Ira David Wood III and Sara Wood. Younger sister to Ira David Wood IV and Dana Wood. A dancer who has been trained. She loves to sing, swim, rollerblade, and go horseback riding. She holds a black belt in tae-kwon do. She has kept in touch most of her time in Once and Again (1999) co-stars: Mischa Barrton, Julia Whelan and Shane West.
