She earned worldwide recognition and affection when she gave the world one of the most famous moments in the world of sport when she scored the first-ever perfect ten on asymmetric bars, at the Montreal Olympic Games in 1976. In addition her score, she was able to rack up six more perfect tens, making her the youngest overall Olympic gold medalist in history, at just 14 years old. Nadia Comaneci not only attracted attention, she helped Romania gain a global presence. She was a sports star who came into spotlight by achieving an unachievable result, in creating legends and increasing the popularity of gymnastics as an athletic sport throughout the world. Additionally, it altered people's perspective of female athletes. Her impact on the Olympics was such it is that 2 of her movements, the toe-on move as well as the release move, are designated in her honour. Both have been rated as difficult to the highest level. She also performed well at World Championships, European Championships as well as the Olympics. This led to her becoming a legend and she's now one of the best gymnasts across the world.
