Simone Biles
In gymnastics, Simone Biles captured her 20th world championship gold medal when Team USA won its seventh consecutive title in Antwerp Belgium on October 4. With 33 medals, she has the highest number of medals in the history of gymnastics. It is not just the Olympics. Just three days before, Biles landed a highly challenging vault that is the only one she did on a world stage. Before it was known as Biles' Yurchenko double pike vault,, this skill has been renamed the Biles II. In the final of her overall competition in the sixth October, the record-breaking gymnast will be competing in her first international competition following 2021. Simone was born in Ohio, Columbus on the 27th of September 1997. Her birth mother struggled with drug addiction. Simone and her three siblings were removed from the care of their home to foster care. Ron, a retired Air Force vet and Nellie an experienced nurse who retired, took care of Simone as she turned six years old. They also adopted the youngest sister Adria. Simone and her older siblings were taken in by their maternal aunt.
